Many small businesses cannot compete with brands with big budgets. From what I see and hear, there is a lot of resistance to small businesses to pay, whether through lack of budget and most certainly lack of faith with Facebook. I understand and appreciate that Facebook needs to earn money, it is a business after all and they are not short of businesses who do pay to play and will up their ante in 2015.
From recent articles it is clear to me, being a small business owner myself, that it is now time to start collating and owning data through email marketing.
The power of email marketing has been around for some time but in recent years has been favoured by the efficiency and freedom of social media networks. Times are a changing and small businesses need to change too. Let's not forget that when you are using social media networks, you don't own the data. Those social networks kindly allow us to connect with others through their frameworks and they too at some point will need to start reeling in more bucks and shape how use those networks. I vouch that we see more of the same happening on other networks next year.
If you have not introduced a way of collating data through email marketing now is the time to start thinking about it and implementing a plan.
Will your 2015 plan include Facebook advertising?
